Mutua Madrid Open Globalis Teams

The Mutua Madrid Open Globalis Teams are amateur tennis tournaments that are held in various cities around Spain in which the winners are awarded with the chance of attending both the ATP and WTA Mutua Madrid Open finals (the prize includes travel, accommodation and tickets) in the CajaMagica.

Participants are invited to play by Mutua Madrileña as well as the tennis clubs that will be hosting the events in their respective cities. The Mutua Madrid Open Globalis Teams divide participants into four groups of five pairs, which can be mixed, and has them compete in a Round-Robin stage, where everyone plays everyone and the set and match are awarded to the pair that wins 4 games without advantages (a golden point applies). If both pairs are tied at 3-3, there will be a 5-point tie-break to determine the winner.

From each group one pair will qualify for the semi-finals, which along with the final, will be played using normal sets (including advantages). In the case that various pairs are tied on points at the conclusion of the Round Robin stage, the winners will be determined on the basis of the head-to-head record between the pairs.

At the end of the final, Manolo Santana, the director of the Mutua Madrid Open and one of the greatest global ambassadors of tennis, will award the winning pair with their prize: a free pass to enjoy the final weekend of the Mutua Madrid Open,in which they will not only be able to watch both the ATP and WTA finals, but won’t have to worry about travel and accommodation costs, nor the cost of such sought after tickets either. As an added bonus, there will be a clinic held by an ex professional tennis player at the end of each of these tournaments. Being part of the Mutua Madrid Open Globalis Teams is a way of bridging the gap between amateur and elite tennis.
