The final in Germany will see Haas face Federer, while in Queens it will be between Nalbandian and Cilic.
The finals in the first of the grass season’s tournaments will be played out today. In the German city of Halle Tommy Haas and Roger Federer will come face-to-face, while in England, David Nalbandian and Marin Cilic will fight it out to lift the Queens trophy.
The Halle final will see a clash of two greats of the ATP circuit. Local hero Haas (34) has reached the final against all expectations after qualifying for the tournament thanks to a Wild Card. His path to the final has seen him see off Philipp Kohlschreiber (who knocked out Rafael Nadal) in the semi-finals after a tight two-set encounter (6-7, 5-7). His opponent will be Roger Federer, who eased past Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny 1-6, 4-6. The buildup to Wimbledon has begun and the Swiss will be looking to redeem himself after his semi-final exit from Roland Garros.
In Queens, David Nalbandian defeated Grigor Dimitrov 4-6, 4-6 while Croatia’s Marin Cilic had to dig deep to win after dropping his second set for a final score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
