La Caja Mágica, officially opened
Spanish Prime Minister, José Luís Rodríguez Zapatero, Madrid Regional Government, Esperanza Aguirre, and the Mayor of Madrid Alberto Ruiz Gallardón, opened yesterday at 17:30 La Caja Mágica, the venue where the new Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open Tournament will take place from the 8th to the 17th of May.
This Olympic site, designed by the French architect Dominique Perrault, includes three main stadiums with a capacity for 12,500, 3,500 and 2,500 people.
These three courts have a special feature: the three of them have retractile covers that allow
playing simultaneous matches in case of rain, a possibility that no other tournament in the world enjoy.

La Caja Mágica will be officially opened from the next 8th of May, special day with many important events and surprises, including a Lenny Kravitz´s concert. From that day on, until the 17th of May, the best male and female tennis players in the world will fight, before Roland Garros, in the new Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open.
The tournament is supported by Mutua Madrileña and the Municipality of Madrid, and important sponsors such as Estrella Damm, Lexus, Air Europa, Rolex, L’Oreal París, Metro, Schweppes, Ricoh, Adecco ABC, Marca, Dunlop y Head.
