Tomas Berdych won the Tie Break Tens Melbourne and winner-take-all $250,000 prize after a thrilling night of tennis inside the Margaret Court Arena. Berdych won the final against Nadal 10-5 after an intense fight and lifted the trophy in front of 7,073 people.
“The field was amazing and I had to play really well if I wanted to win. To play in front of this crowd was special and we all had a lot of fun. The atmosphere was electric. I really loved playing Tie Break Tens!”, Berdych said.
The players entered the arena in a spectacular manner and sat courtside through all of the matches, chatting to one another and showing sides of their personalities that fans in the stadium -and watching on tv- might not have been accustomed to. The crowd got into it and cheered some amazing points and exchanges during the whole night.
Berdych became the 4th male player to win Tie Break Tens after the triumphs of Kyle Edmund (London), Dominic Thiem (Vienna) and Grigor Dimitrov (Madrid).
