Antonio Arenas Mutua News

Dear Tennis Fans,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Caja Magica for this landmark 10th edition of the Mutua Madrid Open.

This magnificent WTA Premier-Mandatory level tournament is one of the most prestigious events on the tennis calendar, producing many memorable champions in its rich history.

This year we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Mutua Madrid Open, and since the inaugural edition in 2009, this tournament has gone from strength to strength to become a firm favorite among the players on tour. I would like to congratulate the entire team here – both past and present – for reaching such an important milestone and the tournament’s continued dedication for tennis excellence within the WTA family.

Throughout the 2018 season, the elite athletes of the WTA will contest 54 tournaments across the globe in addition to the four Grand Slam events, competing for championship titles and the chance to build a legacy as one of the game’s greats.

The new season is well underway, and the Mutua Madrid Open provides a great opportunity for players to secure vital points on the Race to Singapore, which culminates with our thrilling end-of-season WTA Finals in the Asia-Pacific region in October.

You, the fans, are at the heart of what we do at the WTA. We want to bring you closer to the sport than ever before, whether watching from the stands, on TV or following the exciting action on a smartphone. Your enthusiasm and passion for the sport drives the players to perform at the highest level, and we look forward to bringing you on the WTA journey again in 2018.

Enjoy your time here at the 2018 Mutua Madrid Open, and thank you for being a part of the exciting WTA story.
