Sharapova y Na Li quieren la gloria

Maria Sharapova disputará la final del torneo de Roma tras superar a Angelique Kerber 6-3, 6-4 en casi una hora y media y sumarse a una ronda final en la que estaba Na Li tras la lesión de espalda de Serena Williams antes de disputar las semifinales.

Sharapova busca su segundo título en 2012 tras vencer en Stuttgart a finales de abril a Victoria Azarenka. Sobre la tierra batida de Roma intentará ampliar su palmarés ante Na Li y repetir el torneo que alzó en 2011. Na Li llega descansada tras no tener que disputar las semifinales por lesión de Serena Williams, molestias en la espalda, y obtener su sexto título, el primero en 2012.

Por su parte, la pareja formada por Sara Errani y Roberta Vinci, campeonas del Mutua Madrid Open en el dobles femenino, han repetido triunfo en Roma contra Makarova y Vesnina al vencer 6-2, 7-5 en Roma y alzarse con el trofeo en casa.Maria Sharapova is through to the Rome final after seeing off Angelique Kerber 6-3, 6-4 in almost an hour and a half. Her opponent, Na Li is through to the last round due to a back injury Serena Williams picked up before their semi-final duel.

Sharapova has her sights set on her second title in 2012 after the one she picked up in Stuttgart in April, defeating Victoria Azarenka. She will try to add to her tally and repeat her 2011 victory on the clay courts in Rome. Na Li comes into the encounter well-rested after a back injury Serena Williams sustained before their semi-final clash gave her an automatic place in the final and she will believe she has a real chance to take a sixth title, her first in 2012.

Meanwhile, the Errani – Vinci partnership, recent champions of the Mutua Madrid Open in women’s doubles, have done it again in Rome, defeating Makarova and Vesnina 6-2, 7-5 to lift the trophy in front of a home crowd.
